Baptisms and Thanksgivings

If you are considering marking the arrival of a child to your family with a Baptism or Thanksgiving service, we would love to talk to you.

At a Baptism of a child (sometimes also called a Christening) we come together to welcome them into the family of God. Parents, godparents and indeed the whole church promise to support and nurture the child in this journey of faith and we mark the occasion by baptising with water around the font.  

For some, a thanksgiving service, the chance to give thanks to God for the gift of a child may be more appropriate if you decide that now isn’t the right time to have your child baptised.

For more information about Baptisms and Thanksgiving Services, please contact us.  We will ask you to complete a form with details of the child to be baptised, the parents amd god parents and then our Rector will arrange to meet you.

Baptisms usually happen as part of our Sunday services as follows

                                                Parish Church Street 1^st Sunday of each month  11am
                                                Mission Church Street 3^rd Sunday of each month 10.30am
                                                Holy Trinity Walton 3^rd Sunday of each month 9.15am
                                                St Andrews Compton Dundon 4^th Sunday of each month 10am

We also welcome enquiries from older children or adults exploring Baptism.
